The Deep River Public Library will be joining Bibliomation, the State's largest library consortium.

This is exciting news for our patrons, who will gain access to materials from a network of 63 libraries. Deep River patrons will benefit from sharing technology and resources, including the ease of placing holds and reserving items from within the consortium of libraries.

Deep River Book & Movie Club

Girls of Tender Age, by Mary-Ann Tyrone Smith, is this month's choice for book discussion. Traces the author's experiences of growing up in a small-town community under the shadows of a severely autistic brother and a violent serial pedophile who eventually murdered one of the writer's young classmates.

On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons From the Twentieth Century , by Timothy Snyder. This is an excellent, short read, regardless of your political perspective. Join us for discussion and bring your best critical mind to engage with Snyder's points. Light refreshments will be served. Facilitator: Dr. Rick Hornung from Eastern CT State University. Co-sponsored by The Valley Stands Up.

Friends Book and Bake Sale

Saturday, Sept. 16th at 9:00AM - 3:00PM.

The Friends of Deep River Library will hold their annual bake and book sale on Deep River Family Day, Saturday, Sept 16. There will be plenty of things to do in town all day! The book and bake sale will be held on the library's lawn.

Isabella Capezzone has a Photography Exhibit in the Library's Conference Room, Sunday, September 24th from 3:00PM to 6:00PM.

Bella is a 7th grader at John Winthrop Middle School. She has had a fascination with photography from an early age, photographing pets, sunsets, flowers and the beauty she sees in nature. Bella completed a photography course through Girl Scouts in early elementary school and completed a photography enrichment program at Deep River Elementary School while a student there.

Light refreshments will be served. Bella's works will be on sale and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Deep River Food Pantry.

Collection Cabinets

The library director Susan Rooney will display her unique and spooktacular collection of Halloween items in one case.

In the other case Marilyn Malcarne will continue to display her lovely hats. Marilyn is a certified milliner who studied at the Fashion Institute of America in New York, New York. All hats made by her!

The Deep River Brick Bunch Open Lego Construction

September 7 and 21; 3:45 - 4:45 pm.

This is a drop-in program. We now have large blocks for the younger kids! For more information, call the library.

Thursdays are Terrific at the Deep River Public Library! Join us for BABY BOUNCE, a lap sit program for babies up to 24 months and their caregivers, followed by open play and social time. Older siblings may attend. No registration is required. Dates for this program will be on the following

Drop-in Craft in the Garden!

September 16; 10:30 am - 11:30 am.

We will be making a simple craft in the Children's Garden! We will be making bird seed rolls and hanging them up in the garden for our feathered friends! No registration required.


Pre-school Power Hour, September 8, 15, 22, 29; 10:30 am. Join our popular interactive power hour of stories, songs, fingerplays and more, followed by Open Play. Open to all ages. No sign-up is necessary.

ABC Amigos visits on the 29th at 10:30 am. Join us for an interactive Spanish experience, perfect for the preschool set! Enjoy a Dance Demo with Rana on the 22nd.

Make a Pinch Pot!
