The CT River Area Health District's Daisy Hernandez, Health Educator, will present a clinic at the library on Heart Health. For ages 16 and above.

The Deep River Public Library will be hosting a calligraphy class on Feb. 22nd at 6:30 pm.

Calligraphy is the art of writing beautifully. Come learn how to draw letters and transform your writing into a work of art. Calligraphy is a great way to add flair to cards, personal correspondence and special notes. The way you hold your pen and touch it to paper makes each alphabet uniquely your own.

In this fun class you will learn the technique for one of the calligraphic alphabets and become familiar with the instruments of calligraphy including felt-tip calligraphy pens, template sheets and calligraphy paper. You will leave knowing the fundamentals of calligraphy and you will have a beautiful interpretation of your name by your own hand.

Ned Farrell will be instructing the course. He is the co-owner of the Bee Company of Clinton, Connecticut. Ned has been doing calligraphy for years. There is a $5.00 fee for supplies, including a pen, template and calligraphy paper which will be yours to keep. Please call the library to register, 860-526-6039.

Black History in the CT River Valley with Dr. Close

Learn about the Complexities of black history in the valley, the ties to the ivory trade and to abolition and the underground railroad.

This is a drop-in program. We now have large blocks for the younger kids! For more information, call the library.

Dates for this program will be on February 2, 9, and 23.

**There is no class on February 16.

Starts at 10:30AM. For non-walkers & caregiver.

This is a lap-sit program for babies up to 24 months and their caregivers, followed by open play and social time. Older siblings may attend, but the program will be geared toward the littlest library users! No registration required.


Pre-school Power Hour, February 10, 17 and 24 at 10:30. with stories and songs in an interactive setting, followed by Open Play. Open to all ages.

Deep River Drive-in returns on February 3rd! Pop in for a special showing of Stick Man, a delightful story of a stick father and his misadventures trying to get back to his wife and family. Popcorn is on us! Showtime starts at 10:30 am. Free and open to all.

AND a special encore of the Deep River Drive-in on Saturday, February 4th for the "Take your child to the Library Day"
