ATTENTION -- Genealogy Interest Group:
Genealogy, the study of family history and lineages, has become a popular hobby in the United States. According to a survey conducted by Harris Interactive,
87% of American adults are interested in learning about their family histories.
Genealogy is the second most popular hobby in the US after gardening
and the second most visited category of websites, after pornography. The majority of genealogical subscription services users are American.
Two popular genealogical subscription services; the MyHeritage Library Edition,
supported by the Deep River Public Library and a limited Ancestry.com, supported by the Connecticut State Library.
Both services are linked in the sidebar to the right.
The Deep River Public Library is exploring establishing an Interest Group for experienced and beginner genealogy researchers. This self-directed group could meet monthly at the Library,
develop goals and initiatives and suggest invited speakers. If you have any interest in joining please email deepriverpubliclibrary@gmail.com deepriverpubliclibrary@gmail.com
Our Online Resources can be found on the sidebar to the right. These databases are available to Deep River residents only -- your town tax dollars at work! Available on your home computer, your smartphone... your digital device.
"Wherever you go, there is the Deep River Public Library."
