Watercolor Workshop

Wednesday, January 10 and Wednesday, January 24, both are 5:15 - 7:45 pm.

Watercolor Workshop with local artist, Alan James! This class offers step by step instruction that results in watercolor made easy! There are two classes to choose from, Wednesday, January 10 and Wednesday, January 24, both are 5:15 - 7:45 pm. The class is free, but participants must bring their own supplies, all of which are listed on our registration through SignupGenius:

Holiday Open House!

Join us Wednesday, Dec. 13th from 6-8 pm for fun and festivity at our annual Holiday Open House. We'll be serving a brandy punch and other refreshments.

eBook & eAudio Classes!

Deep River Library is now sharing collections with over 90 other Connecticut libraries enabling our users greater access to materials.

Patrons MUST present THEIR OWN library card for each transaction. If you have lost your card, we are happy to provide one free complimentary card for Deep River residents.

Staff from Bibliomation will be here Friday, Dec. 15th for classes at 3:30, 4:15 or 5:00pm to show you how to download an eBook or eAudio. Call the library to reserve a spot at one of the above class times. Be sure to bring your device with you to the class..

Knit Together

Saturday, December 16th at 1 - 2:30 pm.

Wendy Sherman will teach you the basics or more advanced techniques. Bring supplies or purchase at the library. Free.

Deep River Book & Movie Club

Wednesday, December 20th at 1:00PM.

The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, by Alan Bradley. Eleven-year-old Flavia de Luce, an aspiring chemist with a passion for poison, is propelled into a mystery when a man is found murdered on the grounds of her family's decaying English mansion and Flavia's father becomes the main suspect..

Sue Wisner and Susan Rooney will display their collections of carolers in the hallway display case.

In the other case Priscilla Lerner will display her Christmas Village in the Reading Room case.

Children's Programs

The Deep River Brick Bunch Open Lego Construction

December 7th & 21st; 3:45 - 4:45 pm.

This is a drop-in program. We now have large blocks for the younger kids! For more information, call the library.


December 7th, 14th, and 21st; 10:30 am.

Thursdays are Terrific at the Deep River Public Library! Join us for BABY BOUNCE, a lap sit program for babies up to 24 months and their caregivers, followed by open play and social time. Older siblings may attend. No registration is required. *We will have a special guest from Central Connecticut Pediatric Dentistry visit on 12/14 to talk about baby dental care. No class on 12/28.

Holiday Song Sing-a-long!

December 20th at 5:30 pm!

Join us for a Holiday Song Sing-a-long with Edward Leonard on December 20 @ 5:30 pm! Get in the holiday spirit and sing and dance to holiday favorites. Be on the look out for Mrs. Claus!


Pre-school Power Hour, December 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd; 10:30 am. Stories and songs in an interactive setting, followed by craft and open play. Perfect for the preschool set! Get ready for Rayna's Dance Demo on December 15. *No class on 12/29 Open to all ages. No sign-up is necessary.

New Year's Eve Party! Join us on Friday, December 29 @ 10:30 am for a New Year's Eve Party! This will be an all ages event with karaoke, photo props, faux champagne, a balloon drop and New Year's count down! Participants are asked to bring a festive holiday treat to share. Perfect winter break fun for the entire family!!
