A Note from the President
The Deep River Library is an important resource in our community. But like many other organizations, it needs help from volunteers. The Friends of the Deep River Library is an all volunteer organization which helps raise funds for the library. We assist with books, equipment, and program needs not covered in the town’s budget.
Our continuing goal is to increase the membership in the Friends of the Deep River Library. Our hope is to bring together concerned citizens who appreciate the value of a fine library. We are looking for individuals who are willing to devote time (a little or a lot!), financial contributions or book donations to accomplish our goals. The Friends is open to new ideas for fundraisers and are looking for people who are interested in taking on new ideas and running with them.
Please consider helping the library by joining the Friends. Our town deserves a superior library, one equipped with staff, collections, and facilities to serve the cultural needs of an expanding community. Whether you are a high school student looking for extra-credit, a parent who appreciates our children’s programs or a senior citizen, we can use your help.

Friends Book Sale DonationsA BIG shout-out to all the local folks who have been donating gently-used books to the Friends for our Book Sales!! It is a great way to support the library and to give others an opportunity to enjoy the books you have finished. We gladly accept adult and children's fiction and non-fiction that are in good condition. Sorry, we cannot accept textbooks, magazines or Reader's Digest condensed version books. It works best if donations are left at the bottom of the stairs inside the main library entrance, and a library worker should be notified of the donation so they can review the books before you leave.
What do the Friends do?
The Friends help the library sponsor many community enriching programs. Due to the Friends fundraising, we provide discounted or free passes to museums, and sponsor the Summer Reading Program, Children's and Adult programs thoughout the year? Did you know we help the library provide Museum Passes for all residents? These passes include:
The Connecticut River Museum
Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut
Florence Griswold Museum
Imagine Nation Museum
Maritime Aquarium of Norwalk
New Britain Museum of American Art
New Haven Museum
